what kind of doctor do i see for backpain that won't go away?

i’ve been having lower back pain for more than a week now. the first 5days was the worst, i couldn’t bend down but i couldn’t stand straight either. there was a feeling of heaviness in my lumbar area. i tried hot compress and muscle pain ointment and it improved a little bit but it still bothers me. i can’t stand for a long time because i start to feel discomfort if i’m upright for more than 10minutes. please advise.

I would start with my family dr. let him refer me to a specialist if he could not help me. If you have a herniated disc you need to see a surgeon that performs laminectomies. Where I live we have neruo surgeons and orthopedic surgeons that do laminectomies. When trying the hot compresses I would try them for 10-15 minutes followed with ice compresses the same amount of time…….contract-constrict. .. It might just be a pulled muscle which will take time to heal. Your family Dr. will be able to perform a neurological exam to tell if it is a pulled muscle versus a herniated disc.

    Hope you get well soon!
