sciatica…..?
Hello, I wa wndering if anyone knows anything about sciatica and how it should be treated. We believe this is what my husband has and I would like to know what it is that i can do to help ease his pain. When we go to the doctor all they do is give him pain pills (motrin or something and they don’t help) and advice please would be great. Thanx.

Actually I might know too much about sciatica and don’t want to bore you. Use google. He needs a MRI, if unavailable, at least some good clean X-rays. You have to know the extent of the problem, if herniated discs, their location and severity. We assume that it or they are pressing on the sciatic nerve, impinging it, hurting the back and disabling at least one leg.
Treatment is the painkillers, solution is exercise or therapy if not too serious, and surgery to trim the cartilage if possible, otherwise Morphine shots and spinal fusion for the most serious, they must be really bad cases!
It can also heal itself, if the disc degenerates in a fortunate way, and stops hitting the nerve.
